What the hell is going on with the ten commandments?

They have been changed so Christians are now allowed to worship idols - which is stated is not allowed in the King James' Bible. It has now been edited, so you are allowed, and has split the commandment of 'thou shalt not covet' or whatever, into two, so it is now 'thou shalt not covet' 'thou shalt not covet your neighbour's house' or something like that. And there are so many dodgy passages scattered throughout the bible? How can we even pretend to draw 'knowledge' from a book where the God is sexist, racist, encourages infantcide and incest etc? WHAT IS GOING ON????
